Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard remains on track for an October release
That date, the last Friday of the month, is similar to the release date of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, which had been said would debut in April 2005 and finally launched at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29.
Apple has fewer than two weeks to wrap up work on Leopard and deliver a Gold Master build to duplication for retail packages to be delivered in time. Apple last seeded developers with a new Leopard build on September 21, and if history is any indication, another build should arrive in developer hands some time in the next 7-10 days, likely a Final Candidate release that will be deemed Gold Master should no major bugs be discovered.
Mac OS X 10.4.11
Apple distributed a fresh build of Mac OS X 10.4.11 to developers earlier this week as the final update to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger continues to draw nearer to release.
The new builds, 8S2159 (Intel) and 8S159 (PowerPC), are two builds newer than the previous seeds, which appeared a week earlier. Seven further changes are noted in the new builds, including fixes for Safari, CoreAudio, NFS and NFSv2, and HDV video previewing.
The only known problem with the update can be found in the PowerPC build, which is said to exhibit problems launching Civilization IV and The Sims 2.
