My favorite Firefox Addons
I was just thinking how Firefox changed our lives.
A small Web browser with a big ambition, great performance, and yet for free. It is an old story admiring Firefox but frankly every time I run it I admire the genius of it.
No way I can compare it with IE since I strongly believe that the only reason it is still being used is that it comes as Windows default browser.
Most users usually don’t care by which tool how they access the Web, unless you show them the difference. Saying just “Leave IE, use Firefox!” won’t help that much. We have to explain why and how Firefox rocks.
Firefox is not just a browser. I think it is better called a Web platform instead of a Web browser since you can do lot more than just browsing only by using it when geared up with add-ons.
Anyways, here, the discussion is just about some of great add-ons I always use them in Firefox.
That standard download window might be annoying for some people (including me). Fortunately there’s a good way to send the download progress to status bar and this is the tool you’ve been looking for.
It works to speed up up your page loads. As they say it allows you to tweak many network and rendering settings such as simultaneous connections, pipelining, cache, DNS cache, and initial paint delay.
A cool ftp browser that does almost anything you need working with ftp servers. You no longer need ftp applications after you just installed this plugin.
Google Toolbar
This tool is a fab. It shows google and alexa ranks for every page you surf as well as important link to evaluate SEO factors. It’s a must for SEO fans or even pros.
The best news reader I’ve ever used. It sits right in left side of the screen (optional) and keeps a classified list of your feeds. You can save your favorite list on the server to synchronize it between multiple stations (e.g. home/work) as well as having a backup.
Thousands of other useful Firefox add-ons are accessible via Mozilla.
