Connecting Nokia E61 to Ubuntu Edgy
It’s been always tricky to connect a mobile phone to GNU/Linux.
My first effort was pretty promising!
I just connected my Nokia E61 to my laptop (Edgy) via a USB cable. The phone asked for connection type and I chose Data Transfer and just got connected like a normal memory card. Well, I can’t read the internal memory but this is fare enough to reach something in GNU/Linux painless!
Later on I’ll try to really sync it with my computer after I got familiar with OpenSync read the following articles:

That’s strange you face problem on plugn’ play of USB. It just happened for me. You might changed some settings on USB before.
For me, when I plug and unplug it (with eject) couple of times, plugn’ play freaks out. Otherwise it works fine.
The point is I still didn’t try it as a modem. I let you know if I did.

Hi, I’ve just successfully connected my Nokia E61 to Ubuntu Feisty.
There’s an excellent program called GPRS Easy connect that allows you to use it as a dial-up GPRS modem. all you need is a sim with credit on it and gprs activated for your line. The applications allows you toselect your phone model and network and the rest is dead easy.
The ubuntu specific instructions can be found at

I’m on Tmobile UK pay-as-you-go and browsing is £1 a day.
